Support Our Youth and Communities
By Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition

Tell Congress to support H.R. 2306, the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act, which would focus the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement towards cross-border or interstate smuggling and grant states the right to tax and control the marijuana market in a manner that is acceptable to the people.

Call these general numbers to be transferred to your member of Congress' office:

U.S. Senate switchboard: 202-224-3121

Talking Points

    * While the cost of enforcing the marijuana market ban has been steadily growing each year, the criminal groups in our communities and along our borders are growing richer, more powerful and more violent.  Crime should not pay but each day we refuse to tax, regulate, and control the marijuana market is a victory for violent criminal groups and unregulated drug dealers.

    * Allowing states and local communities to regulate and tax the marijuana market would significantly reduce the culture of criminality that marijuana prohibition fosters and would save American taxpayers between $10 and $41 billion annually in enforcement costs and lost tax revenue.

    * Every objective study on alcohol and marijuana has shown marijuana to be much safer for the user and for society than alcohol, yet there are increasing public health and safety concerns that our laws prohibiting the marijuana market are sending a dangerous message to the public that alcohol is more acceptable.

    * Elected representatives in Congress should refuse to accept campaign money from the alcohol industry until the marijuana market is regulated like alcohol.
