- Take Action -
The burden of
reforming our marijuana laws should not be left
solely on the shoulders of a small group of
part-time state legislators who meet in Austin
for a few months every two years. This is
an issue that requires day-to-day commitment of
all concerned Texans impacted by our ineffective
marijuana laws. If you believe that
parents and other concerned Texans should have a
larger voice in the development of marijuana
policies that better protect our youth and
communities, the following are some of the ways
you can get involved:
1.
Sign up for alerts
from the ProtectYouth.org Initiative. You’ll
receive breaking news updates on upcoming
activities in your community and opportunities
to e-mail or fax your legislators on important
legislation. Forward our website link to
your friends and family and encourage them to
sign up.
2.
Contact your elected
representatives and
urge them to support legislation that will allow
Texas voters to have a greater voice and control
over marijuana policies that impact our youth
and communities.
Be
sure to send us the response you receive from
your elected representatives.
3. Become a
dues-paying member.
Our members’ financial contributions keep us
alive and running full speed.
4. Get published. Write
letters to the editor of your local newspaper
urging the need to tax and regulate the marijuana market
to protect our youth and
communities. Feel free to use any of the
information in our e-mail alerts and on our web
site in your letters.
5. If you're a talk radio
listener, call in and express support for
regulating the marijuana market. Even if the
subject being discussed isn't explicitly about
the marijuana market, many related issues can be
used as a springboard for urging reform. For example, if
the issue is crime, you can point out that
surrendering control of the lucrative marijuana
market to criminal organizations has only
fostered a culture of criminality that impacts
our youth and communities.
6. Support us legally.
Individuals or organizations wishing to donate
attorney time, please write to us at
info@protectyouth.org.
We provide unique legal challenges in our
ongoing fight to tax and regulate the marijuana
market to protect our youth and communities. If you support our mission, join our
legal team.
